What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

New Active Members must complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing legal education, including two hours of legal ethics in each calendar year. As of January 1, 2020 attorneys are exempt from the requirement during the calendar year in which the attorney is admitted to practice.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Yes, excess live hours, including legal ethics credits, may be carried forward for two years. No self-study hours -- including online CLE courses -- may be carried over to any subsequent years.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

No, Wyoming attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

Does Attorney Credits report my CLE hours to the Wyoming State Bar?

No. Attorney Credits does not report your completed courses to the Wyoming State Bar Association. Wyoming attorneys are required to self-report their hours. We do maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.

How do I report the completion of my CLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

Wyoming attorneys must self-report all CLE hours on the Wyoming State Bar website by January 15 in order to avoid being assessed a $300 delinquency fee. Credit hours reported after March 1 for CLE activities completed during the previous calendar year will not be accepted.

With Attorney Credits convenient online, on-demand Wyoming continuing legal education (CLE) courses, Wyoming attorneys can complete their Wyoming State Bar CLE course requirement on their own schedule from the comfort of their home or office! All of Attorney Credits’ online and downloadable on-demand WY CLE courses have all been approved for CLE credit in by the Wyoming State Bar. You can access AttorneyCredits.com and complete your Wyoming CLE online courses on most computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones – so you can study your CLE courses where it’s convenient for you! Under the Wyoming CLE Rules, attorneys may complete up to 6 WY CLE hours by completing online & downloadable Wyoming CLE courses as part of the annual 15 hour WY CLE requirement.

Attorneys in Wyoming must complete 15 hours of mandatory CLE each annual WY CLE compliance period. Of the 15 mandatory WY CLE hours, 2 hours must be in the area of Legal Ethics. The WY CLE reporting period runs from January 1 to December 31. All completed CLE hours for the annual reporting period must be submitted by January 15 of the following year. You may carry up to 30 hours of Wyoming state CLE forward to the next year – including 2 hours of ethics.
