What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

Within 12 months after being admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association, a newly admitted attorney must complete the New Lawyer Program. This program is offered twice a year (in January or early February) and is done in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association Annual Convention.

Does Attorney Credits offer courses for newly admitted attorneys?

No. This program is only offered by the Kentucky Bar Association.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Yes, up to 25 credit hours may be carried over to the next compliance period, including 4 credit hours of legal ethics.

No. Kentucky attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

You must report all your CLE credit hours to the Kentucky Continuing Legal Education Commission by August 10. You can check your online transcript by clicking the following link: https://www.kybar.org.

We offer streaming video CLE courses if you prefer to study your Kentucky CLE courses online. Or you can download an audio or video CLE course and study your CLE offline. Attorney Credits' state CLE provider number is 6888 and all of our KY attorney CLE courses have been pre-approved for CLE credit by the Kentucky CLE Commission. Kentucky attorneys may satisfy 6 of the required 12.5 CLE credit hours through online courses offered by Attorney Credits, including 2 required hours of legal ethics.

Each member of the Kentucky Bar must complete 12.5 hours of approved Kentucky CLE each annual compliance period, which runs from July 1 to June 30. As part of the 12.5 unit CLE requirement, Kentucky attorneys must complete 2 hours in the area of legal ethics, professional responsibility or professionalism. Within 30 days of completing a KY state bar CLE course, you must submit a signed Certificate of Completion to the Director of the Kentucky CLE Commission. Certification of Kentucky CLE courses must not be submitted later than the August 10.

Any certification of a KY CLE activity that is submitted after August 10 will be deemed past due and in non-compliance. If you fail to report your KY state bar CLE compliance on time you may be eligible to submit a plan for making up your Kentucky CLE delinquency.
