Before I sit for the Ohio Bar Exam do I need to complete 1 hour of substance abuse credit?

Yes, you must complete 1 hour of substance abuse credit before you sit for the Ohio Bar Exam. You may complete the Substance Abuse course that we offer on the Ohio course list. What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

Newly admitted attorneys must comply with New Lawyers Training ("NLT") educational requirements unless otherwise exempted from the requirements. The required 12 hours of NLT instruction must be completed by the end of the first biennial compliance period.

Does Attorney Credits offer courses for newly admitted attorneys?

No. Attorney Credits does not offer courses for newly admitted Ohio attorneys.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Yes, up to 12 credit hours may be carried forward to the next compliance period. Any extra professional conduct hours will be carried over as general credits only.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

Yes, under the Ohio CLE Requirements we must monitor your completion of the course. For online streaming video courses you must click on randomly inserted pop ups to confirm that you are viewing the video. For downloadable courses we have embedded numeric codes in the courses. You must write these numbers down and then enter them on our website after you complete the course to obtain your course certificate. Please note that the date you enter the codes and get the certificate is the date that will be printed on the certificate.

Does Attorney Credits report my CLE hours to the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on CLE?

Yes, Attorney Credits does report your completed courses to the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on CLE. We will report your course attendance within 30 days of course completion. We report on the 1st and 15th of every month. In addition, we also maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.

How do I report the completion of my CLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

The Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on CLE maintains a CLE record for each attorney. You have a continuing obligation to periodically review your transcript and inform the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on CLE if information contained in the CLE record is inaccurate or if information is missing. If you have completed all required CLE hours by December and you have reviewed your CLE record and it is accurate then no further action is needed. If you are deficient CLE hours after December 31 you will be notified of the deficiency in mid-February.
