How many CLE hours are required?
None. There is currently no minimum continuing legal education (MCLE) requirement for attorneys in South Dakota.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Requirement.
All members of the State Bar of South Dakota are required to complete Sexual Harassment Prevention Training within two years following admission to the practice of law and once every three years thereafter. This course is offered by the State Bar of South Dakota.
Why should I take CLE if I live in South Dakota?
South Dakota attorneys are encouraged to complete CLE courses in order to maintain their competence to practice law (See South Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 1.1, Comment [6]).
