What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

Newly admitted attorneys must complete 2 hours devoted exclusively to professionalism, substance abuse and mental health, legal or judicial ethics or malpractice prevention within 12 months of being admitted to the Missouri Bar. Please note that lawyers are exempt from the 15 hour annual requirement for the July 1 - June 30 MCLE reporting year that they are admitted to The Missouri Bar.

Does Attorney Credits offer courses for newly admitted attorneys?

No. Courses on legal ethics, malpractice, or professionalism cannot be done through on-demand online courses.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

No. Missouri attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

Does Attorney Credits report my MCLE hours to The Missouri Bar?

No. Attorney Credits does not report your completed courses to The Missouri Bar. We do maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.

How do I report the completion of my MCLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

Missouri attorneys must file the Attorney's Annual Report of Compliance with The Missouri Bar by July 31.

Each attorney admitted to the Missouri Bar must complete 15 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) each MO CLE compliance period. As part of the Missouri CLE requirement, attorneys must complete 2 hours of professionalism, ethics or malpractice prevention credit each annual CLE compliance period. The CLE compliance period in Missouri runs from July 1 - June 30. To report your Missouri CLE compliance, you must make an annual report to the Missouri Bar by July 31. Attorneys who are newly admitted to the Missouri Bar are exempt from the annual mandatory Missouri CLE requirements for the reporting year in which they are admitted. Online and downloadable on-demand CLE courses may be reported for self-study CLE credit and is subject to the 6 hour limit on self-study.
