Edward W. Burns received his Bachelors of Science from California State University, Northridge where he was team captain of the Northridge Varsity Soccer team and a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He attended law school at the University Of San Diego School Of Law, graduated and was admitted to the bar in 1998.
Mr. Burns has extensive litigation experience in State and Federal Court including: Thorne v. ITT Industries, (August 2007, bench trial in Federal Court on an employment matter); Derahonia v. Gazazian, (April 2006, bench trial for breach of a real estate contract); Vance v. Rocking Horse Ridge II, (December 2005 bench trail regarding enforcement of HOA documents); American Racing v. Foamex et al, (April 2004 jury trial regarding fire and subsequent business interruption); and Kehrer v. Vertex Interactive, (December 2003 bench trial regarding employment matters.)
Mr. Burns also practices in the preparation, review and filing of corporate documents and filings, employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and employee handbooks, business contracts (including license and merchandising agreements), supply and production agreements, sponsorship agreements and leases. He has experience assisting clients in protecting corporate intellectual property, including infringement litigation.
Mr. Burns is of counsel to Community Legal Advisors, maintaining his own practice at Freeburg, Nettels & Schaldenbrand. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts of California, Central District, 1999; Eastern District, 2000; and Northern District, 2005. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association and is recognized as a Barrister, by the Inns of Court Hon. William J. Rea Chapter.
