Newly Admitted Attorneys

Newly admitted attorneys must complete a total of 32 CLE credit hours during their first two years -- 16 before the first anniversary of admission and 16 during the second year of admission. Newly admitted attorneys can take a maximum of 14 CLE credits from our website, in the categories of law practice management and areas of professional practice only.

New Cybersecurity Requirement

NY has just created a new CLE requirement that requires attorneys to complete at least one credit hour of cybersecurity, privacy and data protection each compliance cycle. This is not an extra hour, as the requirement remains 24 hours. NY attorneys can apply a maximum three credit hours of cybersecurity, privacy and data protection-ethics to the four-credit hour ethics and professionalism requirement, or you can take it as a general credit. This rule applies to attorneys due to re-register on or after July 1, 2023 (birthday is on or after July 1) and you can't take the course until January 1, 2023.
