State Rules

As of 2024 New Mexico lawyers can complete all 12 of the required MCLE credits online through Attorney Credits.

Any member may carryover up to 12 hours of credits earned in one compliance year over to the next compliance year only. Only 2 ethics and professionalism credits and 1 EIJ may be carried-over as part of the 12 hours of credits. Excess ethics and professionalism credits can be converted to be used toward the substantive (general) requirement. A maximum 4 self-study credit hours can be carried-over (such as those earned on Attorney Credits). No credit may be carried-over for more than one compliance year.

Newly Admitted Attorneys

Newly admitted attorneys must complete the Bridge the Gap program by December 31 of the first full calendar year following the date of admission to the bar. MCLE hours the first full calendar year after they are admitted (newly admitted attorneys are exempt from the MCLE requirement for the remainder of the calendar year they are admitted) for any lawyer who successfully completed the Bridge the Gap program.
