How many MCLE hours are required?

12 hours - including 1 hour of legal ethics and 1 hour of professionalism & civility per year for all active attorneys. 6 credits must be live (Verified) CLE.

6 hours for Licensed Paralegal Practitioners – including 6 total including 1 ethics and 1 professionalism/civility. 3 must be live (Verified) CLE.

How many MCLE hours can I take through this site?

A maximum of 6 credit hours each year. We only offer on-demand courses and they don't count toward Verified E-CLE.

When is the reporting deadline?

July 31

How do Attorney Credits' MCLE courses qualify for credit in Utah?

All of our online and downloadable on-demand MCLE courses have been approved for MCLE credit by the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education.

What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

New lawyers must complete the New Lawyer Training Program, unless they are exempt, and 12 accredited MCLE hours which are the same as an active attorney.

Does Attorney Credits offer courses for newly admitted attorneys?

We do not offer the New Lawyer Training Program. These programs are only offered by the Utah State Bar. Newly admitted attorneys may complete the 6 accredited elective MCLE hours through Attorney Credits.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

No. Utah does NOT allow MCLE credit hours to be carried over from one compliance period to the next.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

No. Utah attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

Does Attorney Credits report my MCLE hours to the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education?

Yes, Attorney Credits does report your completed courses to the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education. We will report your course attendance within 30 days of course completion. Our automated reports run weekly on Thursday.

How do I report the completion of my MCLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

You must file a Certificate of Compliance before July 31. You can access your MCLE records at the Utah website here: https://services.utahbar.org/Login?.

How can I request my MCLE transcript report?

To request a transcript please click the link below. The Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education will email you a PDF copy of your MCLE history for the current reporting period. This report will contain the MCLE information that has been received and entered by the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education. Attorneys admitted to the Utah State Bar must complete and report 12 hours of accredited CLE activities every year, including the 1 hour of legal ethics and 1 hour of professionalism and civility. Utah attorneys must complete their CLE hours by June 30 and report their legal continuing education compliance by July 31. Utah attorneys may satisfy up to 6 CLE hours each compliance period through per-approved on-demand Utah CLE courses offered by Attorney Credits. Online and downloadable legal continuing education courses are considered self-study by the Utah CLE Board. You must retain CLE records for 4 years from the end of the period that you filed the certificate of compliance and proof must be submitted to the Utah CLE Board upon written request.
