How many MCLE hours are required?

Twenty-four credit hours every 2 years - including 3 required hours of legal ethics. At least 1 of the 3 legal ethics hours must be on the topics of professionalism and civility.

How many MCLE hours can I take through Attorney Credits?

How do Attorney Credits' MCLE courses qualify for credit in Utah?

All of our online and downloadable on-demand MCLE courses have been approved for MCLE credit by the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education.

What are my MCLE compliance and reporting requirements?

What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

By the end of the first 2 year reporting period, new lawyers must complete the following MCLE requirements: the New Lawyer Training Program, the New Lawyer Ethics Program and 12 accredited MCLE hours.

Does Attorney Credits offer courses for newly admitted attorneys?

We do not offer the New Lawyer Training Program and the New Lawyer Ethics Program. These programs are only offered by the Utah State Bar. Newly admitted attorneys may complete the 12 accredited MCLE hours through Attorney Credits.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

No. Utah does NOT allow MCLE credit hours to be carried over from one compliance period to the next.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

No. Utah attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

Does Attorney Credits report my MCLE hours to the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education?

Yes, Attorney Credits does report your completed courses to the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education. We will report your course attendance within 30 days of course completion. Our automated reports run on the 1st and 15th of each month.

How do I report the completion of my MCLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

You must file a Certificate of Compliance before July 31. The Certificate of Compliance must include the title of programs attended, the entity that sponsored the MCLE program, the number of hours in actual attendance at each program and other information that the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education might require.

How can I request my MCLE transcript report?

To request a transcript please click the link below. The Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education will email you a PDF copy of your MCLE history for the current reporting period. This report will contain the MCLE information that has been received and entered by the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education.
