Newly admitted attorneys must complete 15 hours of accredited Oregon MCLE in the first reporting period after admission as an active member - including 2 credit hours in ethics, 1 hour of substance abuse, and 10 credit hours in practical skills. Newly admitted attorneys must also complete a 3 credit hour Oregon State Bar approved introductory course in Access to Justice. A person is considered a newly admitted attorney from the date of initial admission as an active member of the Oregon State Bar through the end of his or her first reporting period.
No. Attorney Credits does not offer courses for newly admitted Oregon attorneys.
Yes, up to 6 credit hours may be carried forward to the next compliance period. Legal ethics, elder abuse reporting and access to justice hours may only be carried over as general credits.
No. Oregon attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.
Yes, Attorney Credits does report your completed courses to the Oregon State Bar MCLE Department. Our automated attendance reports are emailed on the 1st and 15th of every month. In addition, we also maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.
You must file a completed compliance report with the Oregon State Bar MCLE Department certifying completion of your MCLE requirement. The form will be provided by the Oregon MCLE Administrator. The compliance report must be filed before 5:00 p.m. on January 31 of the year following your reporting period.
