How many CLE hours are required?

Forty-five credit hours every 3 years - including 3 required hours of legal ethics.

How many CLE hours can I take through Attorney Credits?

A maximum of 30 credit hours each 3 year compliance period.

How do Attorney Credits' CLE courses qualify for credit in North Dakota?

Our online and downloadable on-demand CLE courses qualify for self-study CLE credit in North Dakota. Fifteen hours of self-study are allowed during each reporting period. The State Bar Association of North Dakota does not pre-approve self-study work.

What are my CLE compliance and reporting requirements?

Reporting Cycle: 3 years
Compliance Deadline: June 30

What is the requirement for newly admitted attorneys?

There is no special requirement. Please note that the initial reporting period for attorneys begins the July 1 following the date you are admitted to the State Bar Association of North Dakota.

Can I carry hours forward to the next year?

Yes, up to 15 hours of general credit may be carried forward to the next compliance period. Please note that ethics credit may NOT be carried over.

Does Attorney Credits verify my completion?

No. North Dakota attorneys monitor their own progress and verify their own completion once the course has been completed.

Does Attorney Credits report my CLE hours to the State Bar Association of North Dakota?

No. Attorney Credits does not report your completed courses to the State Bar Association of North Dakota. We do maintain a record of all your completed courses and you can access your certificates of completion at anytime from our website.

How do I report the completion of my CLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?

North Dakota attorneys must self report online courses through their SBAND profile at: https://www.sband.org/login.aspx and report your CLE compliance at the end of your three year compliance cycle by completing and returning the Report of Compliance to the State Bar Association of North Dakota by July 31.
