Maximum Self-Study Allowed
A maximum of 12.5 self-study MCLE units are allowed each reporting period.
Attorneys in California must complete 25 CA MCLE credit hours every 3 year compliance cycle and at least 12.5 MCLE units must be considered participatory CLE credit. All of the self study MCLE California courses offered by AttorneyCredits.com may be completed for participatory credit. As part of the 25 unit CA MCLE requirement, California attorneys must complete a minimum of 4 hours of Legal Ethics, 1 hour of Elimination of Bias and 1 hour of Competence Issues each compliance cycle. The three CA MCLE compliance groups are broken down by last name (A-G, H-M, N-Z). The last day to complete California MCLE credits is January 31 and the MCLE reporting deadline in California is February 1. Because California is a self-reporting MCLE state, CLE providers cannot report MCLE compliance for attorneys. California attorneys must self-report CA MCLE compliance through My State Bar Profile on the State Bar of California website. The State Bar of California does not allow California attorneys to carry over MCLE credit from one MCLE compliance period to the next.
