State Reporting

We report your completed courses to the South Carolina Commission on CLE and Specialization. Our automated reports are emailed to the South Carolina Commission weekly on Thursday. In January, the Supreme Court of South Carolina Commission on CLE and Specialization will mail you an CLE compliance report. If the information in your CLE compliance report is accurate and you have completed your required South Carolina CLE, you must sign and return the annual report before March 1.

State Rules

At least once every 2 years, you must complete 1 credit hour of substance abuse. The substance abuse credit shall be part of the general South Carolina CLE requirement. South Carolina attorneys can complete up to 8 of their 14 required CLE credits online through Attorney Credits.

Fourteen hours of CLE may be carried over to your next compliance period and 2 hours of LEPR can be carried over. However, substance abuse/mental health credits may not be carried over. Online credits such as those offered on this site may not be carried over.

Newly Admitted Attorneys

Newly admitted attorneys are exempt from MCLE requirements during the reporting year that they are admitted to the South Carolina Bar. Before the end of the first required reporting year, newly admitted members admitted pursuant to Rule 402, SCACR, unless exempt , must complete and Essentials Series course administered by the South Carolina Bar in addition to regular CLE requirement.
