Knowledge Strategy & Behavioral Change: Google, Innovation & Consumer Market Integration

Join Don Barthel, Eric Hunter, and Alec Bradford of Bradford & Barthel as they discuss deploying Google Apps to change firm culture and deliver better client service. Issues discussed include firm change & advancement, innovation, Google Apps and recourses, The Cloud, training the trainers, email platforms, mobile apps, building a KM library, Law 20/20, and the future of the legal industry.

Bradford & Barthel recently completed the implementation and successful firm-wide roll-out of its Google Apps cloud-hosted collaboration platform. The Google Apps strategy and implementation earned the firm two ILTA 2010 Distinguished Peer Awards and led to a major culture shift resulting in increased knowledge sharing, communication and collaboration within the firm and with firm clients. Bradford & Barthel had a need to find more cost effective, collaborative, flexible and efficient options for communicating and sharing files and information trapped in disparate systems, in documents on desktops, and in a multitude of electronic communications. After weighing the risk management aspects of going to a software-as-a-service or cloud model versus the additional infrastructure and licensing considerations of a standard desktop upgrade, the firm's senior management team opted to go the hosted route.

Mr. Barthel graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with honors in 1986. Founded in 1997 by Thomas Bradford and Donald Barthel, Bradford & Barthel, LLP is the industry leader in the aggressive defense of Workers' Compensation, Subrogation, and Employment, and Labor matters.

Eric Hunter is the Director of Knowledge Management and Technology at Bradford & Barthel, LLP, where he is currently integrating a cloud-hosted collaboration platform within the firm’s 12 office environment. Eric has spoken on collaborative cloud solutions at ILTA’s Insight in the UK, ILTA’s 2010 Strategic Unity conference, and the Chilli IQ Conference in Australia. He is the recipient of ILTA’s 2010 Knowledge Management Champion Distinguished Peer Award.

Alec Bradford received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2007 from California State Polytechnical Institute at Pomona. He received his Juris Doctorate and graduated Cum Laude in 2010 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego.
